1. Mylo Xyloto
2. Nightlife EP
The only things that I’ve been listening to today…and probably the week.
Although I gotta say, Mylo Xyloto is up and down for me…first 15 minutes = SO SOLID. Last 8 minutes = SO SOLID. I have absolutely no scruples about the beginning/end. “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” is great once the guitar riff kicks in at :51. “U.F.O.”; “Up In Flames”; and “Us Against the World” are great, but not nearly living up to pre-Viva acoustiColdplay. “Major Minus” is cool, but seems kind of out of place…and fuck “Princess of China.” Seriously, not diggin’.
But hey, they’re most definitely taking the path of experimentation while still (mostly) maintaining greatness, which I can appreciate. Quite a bit, actually.
Meanwhile, Phantogram is staying true to Eyelid Movies Phantogram, which is awesome, but comfortable. They’re changing a tiny bit - namely, in the more acousticentric eponymous track, “Nightlife,” which I think is the best on the EP. It’s good - great, even - and that’s because they know their style and have elaborated.
I’m really tempted to write full-on album reviews, because I’ve never done a legitimate one, and because these two are pretty great albums, but then I’m reminded of the fact that I have three papers due in the next three days. AWYEA

“I still smell you distance aside
I still smell the rain distance aside
Oh water that had kept me alive
I will miss you distance aside”

All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem (Tokyo Police Club Cover)
This cover is fucking good — definitely the best one on TPC’s Covers album. It tweaks All My Friends just a bit, keeping with the focus on dynamic, yet in a distinctly Tokyo Police Club manner. Which is fucking good. I don’t wanna say it has more energy…just a different kind. Which is fucking good.
Piano acoustic lounge version on “Beth/Rest” performed by Justin Vernon. Certainly a different spin on his song.

so [this guy] decided that it’d be fun to age up the cast of Hey Arnold about ten years and hypothesize their lifestyle and career paths
so um
this is that
[he] left a couple characters out, like Phoebe and Rhonda and Curly, for no good reason except that the drawings [he] did of them didn’t end up that great
